Rich Barton

Rich Barton is an entrepreneur and investor with a knack for empowering consumers to lead transformations in industries such as travel, real estate, and employment.  Rich co-founded and serves as Zillow's Executive Chairman.  He served as CEO from 2005, when the company was founded, until 2010, when Spencer Rascoff so capably took over.  In 1994, Rich founded Expedia, now the world’s largest travel company.  He served as President & CEO until 2003.  Rich also co-founded and serves as Chairman of Glassdoor.com, where employees can rate and review companies, see how salaries stack up, search for jobs, and see where people work in their extended Facebook network.  He also co-founded Trover, an app for sharing life's hidden gems. Rich is a venture partner at Benchmark Capital in Menlo Park, CA, and is on the boards of directors at Netflix, Nextdoor, Avvo, RealSelf.com, CommonSenseMedia.Org, and YearUp.org.  Rich went to Stanford, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in general engineering: industrial economics.
