I've been using Twitter for some time now now and love it. I've learned a lot of tips, tools and techniques from "tweets" that my friends and colleagues have made - I wouldn't have known about them otherwise.
I've also used Twitter to pose business/real estate transaction questions. I've received awesome and instantaneous responses that have helped me in by business dealings that have directly affected my success and commissions.
The important thing to remember about any type of social networking/media tool is that it's a conversation. Give and you shall receive. Give superficially and you will receive the same. Basically, you get what you put into it.

The best thing about Twitter is the one ping transmission capability to an entire database of clients.
I set a up private family twitter account to communicate with a 20 something son living in one part of the country, siblings in another and busy family at him. One message 15 people all receive it on their phone.
The implications for business however, are spectacular.

Twitter is another cool idea that depends totally upon "social trendiness" to keep it going, at least until a major player can "Borg" the technology and assimilate the uniqueness. Fashion or utility is all in the eye of the beholder.
