Connect Create – one of the highlights of Real Estate Connect San Francisco last year – is returning!

What is Connect Create?
An intense, 48-hour, no-holds barred real estate developer challenge that is happening at Real Estate Connect SF 2010. This one-of-a-kind opportunity will allow you to demonstrate your innovative streak in front of the most important people in real estate and technology.

How does it work?

• You or your team have 48 hours to create an interesting real estate application during the first two days of Real Estate Connect SF.
• You demo your application on the big stage during our general session.
• You wow the crowd, win our grand prize, and become and instant real estate rock star!

Connect Create Rules

Platform. Connect Create is platform neutral. If you come from a .Net shop, cool; if you’re a Rails devotee, that’s cool too. We’re interested in the end result. We do require that this be a web application. And we do require that your application be residential real estate related. However, it can either be a business-to-business or business-to-consumer application.

Time. You have exactly 48 hours to create your web app. You may work on the concept for your application before the event begins, and may also create mock-ups/wireframes. But no code can be written before the event.

Karma. Can you fool us? Probably. Find a workaround? Sure. But that’s contrary to the spirit of innovation and friendly competition we’re trying to foster with this event. And if we catch you messing with the rules we’ll boot your cheatin’ butt in front of everyone. Remember, anyone who completes an app will get plenty of love. Be cool.

Demo. Completed applications will be demo’d on-stage during the conference general session. We will require that you attend a dry run/rehearsal. Yes, this is insane. But it will also be fun.

Publicity. All applications will be featured on the Inman News website after the Connect conference. You will receive tons of publicity for your efforts.

Teams. Entrants may be solo developers or teams of up to 4 people. No remote team members permitted.

Third party stuff. Plugins, APIs Web services and various other third-party cool stuff is definitely OK.

Ownership and Open Source. You can make your code open source. Or not. It’s up to you.

Judging. The judging is ultimately subjective. But we are selecting a group of real estate practitioners, technologists, and media to judge the apps. They will be evaluating applications on: UI, Originality of concept, utility, completeness and the degree to which the application solves a real problem.

Prizes. Our winners will gain the admiration of thousands of industry bigwigs and tons of free promotion through Inman.com. But we’ll also throw in 4 free passes to Real Estate Connect SF 2010 and $1,000 for the grand prize.
