I could have worked from home but I like to go to my office every day - more professional and I get first hand info from my colleagues. While I am there, I figure I might as well sign up for floor. On the other hand, if I am on floor, there is no excuse for me not to work even if I don't feel like working. I have so much to do, it's never a waste of time for me. More importantly, nothing can beat face-to-face interchange with a client who walks into an office and needs to talk to somebody right away. That's when I can look at prospects in their eyes to size them and learn about their needs and wants. You just don't get that when you are on the phone. Being in the best company in Marin also helps - customers do walk in and do call when they need help. By Sylvia Barry, Marin RealtorAugust 16, 2008 - 10:47pm

When I was a new agent, Help U Sell opened office in Novato. Seeing their distorted Ads splashing across the newspaper and store front; I was upset – how could we inform the unsuspected consumers that what they claimed were just not true?! Old time agents shrugged their shoulders, were not impressed and rightly predicted that he was not going to make a dent – the guy got his R.E. License, joined our office, went through new agent training, turned around and opened the Help-U-Sell. He is still around, selling houses here and there, parking his little trailer around town (moving every three days to avoid being towed) for free Ads. A friend I met at local dog park used Help-U-Sell and swore he would never go near them again for the none-service they provide. I am active on Trulia, where we get questions from consumers. Comments are often made that a new commission structure will emerge due to the increasing availability of information via internet which allows consumers to be more self-sufficient. There is often much debate to defend full service brokerage. It is interesting to watch the story unfold, and now, near closing...
