I completely agree with the others regarding the sound.. it is very annoying. If you must have the sound, provide a way to turn it off for your visitors. In addition that long list of areas IMO is a waste of real estate. Target market a few local areas, and create individual pages for each of these areas. One thing I have learned from the company that manages my website is: the most important thing to remember when creating a website is to create it for your visitors. Good content is what your visitors want so give it to them. They want to search for real estate so make it easy for them. You have links to items such as Salary report with a page "What are you worth". Are you selling real estate or are you in human resources? If you're offering a career change then have a "join us" page. My suggestion is to take a step back and examine your site from your visitors perspective. If you are unable to do this, because you are too close then have a friend who is not in real estate do it for you. As real estate agents we have to remember that our business is to sell real estate. We are not website designers nor do we have the time to devote to becoming website experts. Given that, you may want to look into hiring someone to help you. There are many companies out there that are reasonably priced that can help you get started. Some will also train you to do things your self. My webmaster has brought my site from obscurity to the #1 site in my area for many search terms. Contact him and see if he can help you: www.cochran-consulting.net. By Jennifer MackayOctober 16, 2008 - 6:05pm

As I read these many articles and blog posts regarding this issue of the term MLS as well as other issues regarding NAR and local board policies, I continually become confused and bewildered. MLS is a trademark of Major League Soccer, what legal right does NAR have to suggest the usage of the term is misleading to consumers? If a NAR featured writer "Mr. Internet" - Michael J. Russer touts the usage of the term, how can NAR be so misdirected and uninformed? Isn't the fact that NAR is attempting to use this already trademarked term also misleading to the public? That's what confuses me. 3rd party non NAR members continue to use this term with impunity. If NAR is truely a member oriented organization and truely seeks to provide direction for the consumer, then perhaps they should step in, remove this Article from the Code of Ethics and tell the Sarasota board "You're wrong". This was a bad decision when it was made, it is a bad decision now and enforcing it continues to be bad for REALTORS everywhere. This issue needs to be address and repaired now. It is already wasting valuable time, energy and money that can best be directed to educating consumers and agents on current real estate issues. We're behind you Marc. You stand for us all, and we for you!
